The city of Katy, Texas is a small city, just 30 minutes outside Houston. The most popular suburb of Houston and the third most popular suburb in the U.S., Katy offers residents incredible quality of life with beautiful neighborhoods, master-planned communities and abundant green space for parks and recreation.
With history dating back to rice farming in the 1800s, Katy truly offers the best of both worlds — the charm and history of a small town, but all the conveniences of a large city.
Whether you’re a young professional, growing family, retired senior or business owner, Katy is a wonderful place to call home.
History Highlights:
Founded on rice farming in the late 1800s and formally incorporated in 1945, Katy was a railroad town in the late 19th century. The Missouri-Kansas-Texas (MKT) Railroad line ran through Katy, connecting to Houston, so much of the town’s character is centered around the historic railroad influence on its economy and its people.
